If you have searched “how to start an online business” you already know what happens next.
You end up on Instagram watching someone film themselves on a yacht telling you they made $10k last month just by posting links. Or you find a course that promises to teach you everything for three easy payments. Or you join a Facebook group full of people who seem to have it all figured out and you wonder why you are the only one who feels completely lost.
I have been there. All of it.
My biggest problem when I started was not that I lacked effort. It was that I was impulsive and impatient. I saw something that excited me and I bought it before I did any real research. I fell for the hype, jumped into the wrong programs and spent a solid stretch of time making videos and posting affiliate links everywhere with absolutely no idea what I was doing or why.
Nothing happened. Obviously.
The expectations I had when I started were so far off from reality it is almost funny looking back. I thought if I just showed up and posted enough something would stick. That is not how this works.
The Part Nobody Admits
The biggest problem with most online business content is not that it is wrong. It is that it is incomplete.
Someone tells you to pick a niche. Fine. But nobody explains how. Someone tells you to build a funnel. Great. But nobody shows you what goes in it. Someone tells you to post consistently. Sure. But consistently posting the wrong thing to the wrong audience gets you nowhere faster.
I spent months following advice that was missing half the information. I was not lazy. I was not unmotivated. I just did not have the full picture and I was too impatient to slow down and find it.
That is the difference between struggling and making progress. Not talent. Not luck. Just having the right education that actually fills in the gaps instead of leaving you to figure it out alone.
What I Know Now That I Wish I Knew Then
I am not going to give you a 47 step system. Here is what two years of doing this actually taught me:
Being impulsive costs you money. Every time I bought something without researching it properly I wasted money. Every single time. Slow down. Do your research. Ask the questions you are afraid sound stupid. It is cheaper to take your time upfront than to pay for the wrong program twice.
Pick one business model and learn it properly before you try anything else. Affiliate marketing, digital products, ecommerce, service providing. They all work. But trying to do all of them at once while also being impatient is a guaranteed way to burn out with nothing to show for it.
Real education is worth paying for. Not a $27 PDF. Not a viral reel template. A legitimate program that teaches you the fundamentals and actually shows you how to execute them. I found that program after wasting money on a lot of things that were not it. The difference was night and day.
Stop comparing your start to someone else’s middle. The impatience gets worse when you are watching other people’s highlight reels. You do not know their timeline. You do not know what they spent or how many times they wanted to quit. Build your foundation and give it time

The Programs That Actually Taught Me Nothing
I bought a course that told me all I needed to do was post three times a day on Instagram and add affiliate links everywhere. I did exactly that for weeks. Nothing happened.
I bought a viral reels booklet from a successful Instagram mom. It taught me how to repost other people’s content and call it my own. That felt wrong and I stopped.
I bought guides and cheat codes that gave me steps without context. Do this. Then do this. Then do this. But never why. And when the steps did not work I had no foundation to troubleshoot from.
None of it was education. It was just content dressed up as education. There is a big difference.
How I Finally Found Something That Worked
I found the program I use now through Google. Not Instagram. Not a viral reel. I typed in a search, read some real information and did actual research before I bought anything.
That alone tells you something. I was not being sold to. I was finding information on my own terms and deciding from a place of knowledge instead of impulse.
The program has real curriculum, real step by step guidance, multiple business model pathways, a genuine community and mentors who are actually building alongside you. It is not cheap. But after everything I wasted money on before finding it, the investment felt completely different. I paid it down with my first affiliate commissions and I would do it again without hesitating.
